Galería Patricia Ready and Fundación Arte+ present How much does a stone remind (us)?, a solo exhibition by Mercedes Fontecilla curated by Diego Parra. The exhibition features stones from the Mapocho river as protagonists. Apparently motionless and silent, the stone holds the memory of the world and becomes a witness, cosmic and mineral body. The exhibition continues an investigation deployed since 2018 around the Mapocho as an entity that gives life and identity to the city. Through works that explore the intersection between geology, mysticism, and biology, painting, photography, and sound operate as translators of that language. Painting translates the "whispers" of the stones into abstraction, with natural pigments and earths from the Cordillera de los Andes that dialogue with gold leaf; photography stops the light on them, and a sound piece collects the subtle signals with which the landscape speaks to us.
