Today we present Diego Sandoval @ceramicaschucao We are very happy to have artists back who participated in our first edition and who return this year to continue growing with us. His history with ceramics began approximately four years ago, when he arrived at a basic workshop and worked with clay for the first time. From that moment on, he knew he wanted to continue learning this craft. A large part of his journey has been self-taught: researching, reading, watching videos, and, above all, experimenting. That curiosity even led him to build his own kick wheel and a wood-fired kiln. Later on, he deepened his knowledge with Felipe Alarcón, from Taller Espejo Negro, where he learned about glaze and paste formulation, further expanding his search and experimentation with materials. He currently works mainly on the potter's wheel with stoneware, incorporating local clays and developing ash glazes. He also loves gas and wood firing and everything that happens when fire, atmosphere, and materials begin to transform a piece. What motivates Diego is creating that possibility of continuing to discover. Researching materials… On the flyer: Diego Sandoval One of the most important moments for me was opening the high-temperature kiln for the first time after a very chaotic firing and taking out my first stoneware, they were ash glazes. It was a moment that confirmed to me that I wanted to continue on that path.
