MONTEALEGRE exhibition. Resistance in New York

Exile and resistance from New York 📷 We invite you to visit “MONTEALEGRE. Resistencia en Nueva York”, an exhibition that presents for the first time part of the photographic archive of Marcelo Montealegre, who since 1973 recorded in New York the actions of the Chilean exile and the international solidarity movement with Chile during the civil-military dictatorship. Joan Báez, Bob Dylan, and former minister Orlando Letelier, among others, are part of this photographic archive that accounts for the multiple forms of organization and denunciation that emerged from abroad in the face of violence and repression in Chile. Artist: ▪︎ Marcelo Montealegre, a Chilean photojournalist based in New York since the late sixties. In the seventies, he recorded the political, artistic, and social activities of the Latin American community in New York linked to the denunciation of the Chilean dictatorship. Curator: ▪︎ Jennifer McColl Croizer, creator, researcher, and curator specializing in aesthetics, archives, and art theory. She is currently the artistic and executive director of Centro NAVE. Co-produced by: @centro_nave 📌 Hall CEDOC.
