Threads of solidarity in exile 🖼️ A few days ago we inaugurated "Llevaban un mundo nuevo en el corazón" (They carried a new world in their hearts), the new exhibition of the Memorias Compartidas* project, which addresses the Spanish exile after the end of the Spanish Civil War. The exhibition reflects on the circulation of anarchist thought between Spain and Chile and the solidarity networks that were built around these ideas at the beginning of the 20th century. Through textiles, pieces constructed from archives and documents, and audiovisual works, the exhibition recovers fragments of a history whose stories have remained scattered or relegated, reconstructing some of these genealogies through figures such as Belén de Sárraga, a social agitator and precursor of feminism in Chile, Buenaventura Durruti, and the support networks that made possible the arrival of the Winnipeg, the ship that in 1939 brought hundreds of Republicans fleeing Francoist repression to Chile. Artist: Lorenzo Sandoval (Madrid, 1980) is an artist, filmmaker, and curator. His research is articulated around the idea of an ecosystem applied to the generation of spaces, exploring the relationships between irrigation and water, textiles, image, and sound… On the flyer: EXHIBITION Llevaban un mundo nuevo en el corazón and with mutual support networks.
