🌒 A planet can cast your shadow. Starting Monday the 28th, you have 6 nights to prove it 👀 ✨ Venus is at its maximum brightness of the season: 22 times brighter than Sirius, the brightest star in the sky. To the naked eye, it is a dazzling point to the west after sunset 🌇 With a small telescope 🔭 you can see what Galileo used in 1610 to prove that it orbits the Sun: a crescent. 📉 Every evening it will look thinner and larger. It will go from 20% illuminated to less than 2%, as it approaches to within 40.8 million km on October 24, closer than any other planet 🌍 📅 Save these dates: 👤 Sep 28 to Oct 3 · Look for your Venus shadow away from the city, from 21:10 🌙 Oct 11 · A Moon of barely 32 hours at 4.7° from Venus 🪐 Oct 12 · Holiday with the Moon next to Mercury, at its maximum separation from the Sun ☀️ Oct 24 · Venus passes between the Sun and the Earth 🌅 Nov 25 · It returns at dawn, even brighter 👉 Swipe: we show you why it shines more as a crescent than when almost full, how to see your shadow, where to look from Santiago, and Galileo's secret anagram 🔐 🔭 Do you want to see it in phase with your own eyes? Observe it with our telescopes during the Observation Nights… On the flyer: SOUTHERN SKIES · SEP 24 2026 Venus becomes a crescent These days it shines at its seasonal peak at sunset. Every evening it will look thinner and larger, until it is lost in the twilight in mid-October. Manuel Foster Observatory CERRO SAN CRISTÓBAL SINCE 1903
