These are the books for September for Inmorales, the book club. In Cold Blood, by Truman Capote. The true story of a quadruple murder in a North American town. The book ends up becoming a portrait of a town, of some killers, but above all, of life in apparent civility. Furthermore, it is a masterclass in journalism. And an epic about a writer's personal obsession with his work. The other one, which we will discuss next Wednesday, is Seeing, by José de Saramago. The book is a piece of fiction that challenges what we understand by democracy. What if the majority of people cast blank ballots in an election? It is a text about chaos, freedom, laws, and authority. Saramago usually starts from the “what if…?”, and the writing, then, becomes an exercise in imagining possibilities. See you at the next meetings! On the flyer: NOBEL PRIZE IN LITERATURE José Saramago Seeing. Truman Capote In Cold Blood.
