Many times, while improvising, we feel that the scene isn't taking off. We are stuck and, no matter how much energy and desire we put into it, something holds us back. I believe that one of the great answers is not necessarily in the events that occur, but in the relationships that the characters build. A story about a father seeking to reconcile with his son can happen during a space trip, in the middle of a war, or in a mysterious haunted town. The context can change. What matters is the bond between the characters and how that bond transforms. Because that is what makes a story move us and remain in our memory.
