La Lira Popular is an expression of Chilean popular poetry and culture that, between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, recounted daily life and what was happening in Chile at that time in verse. Through loose sheets, ten-line stanzas (décimas), and illustrations, popular poets took their stories everywhere, becoming a unique way of narrating life in our country. The Lira Popular collection is preserved at the Biblioteca Nacional, in the Archive of Oral Literature and Popular Traditions.
