“Apuntes sobre la tortura y otras formas de diálogo” (1968) is one of the first works by Patricio Guzmán. Before debuting in feature films with “El primer año” (1972), Guzmán made this short film in Madrid that uses narrative techniques unusual in his work: archival material dialogues with a satirical staging. Sequence after sequence, we see pop women promoting torture tools to be used in Third World countries. Its dark sense of humor and the reinterpretation of the advertising language of the time make “Apuntes sobre la tortura y otras formas de diálogo” a rarity within the filmography of the recently deceased Chilean filmmaker. We will be showing it this Saturday, October 26, as part of the Ketacinema film club. Where? At Centro experimental Perrera Arte (Avenida Balmaceda between Cueto and Bulnes). Time? 20:00.
