On the occasion of World Day for Audiovisual Heritage, the Cineteca Nacional de Chile presents an exhibition of Chile al Día, a cinematic newsreel produced by the Dirección General de Informaciones y Cultura (DIC) and part of the Chile Films historical archive. The selection brings together records made between 1944 and 1950, documenting different aspects of the country's political, social, and cultural life, including official acts, public works, sports, shows, and everyday scenes. The materials, filmed on nitrate stock, were transferred in 2023 to the vaults of the Cineteca Nacional, following a management process with Chile Films that began in 2017. They are currently part of a rescue, preservation, and access project that seeks to make this collection known and contribute to the conservation of nitrate film heritage.
