GAM hosts Materia barroca, a new cycle that proposes approaching baroque music as a living art, capable of surprising, moving, and engaging with new audiences. On this date, one of Johann Sebastian Bach's most celebrated works arrives: the Goldberg Variations, originally written for harpsichord and which here take on a new dimension in a string trio format. Violin, viola, and cello meet to reinterpret this work, born from a particular story: Bach composed it at the request of Count Keyserlingk to accompany the sleepless nights of his young protégé, the harpsichordist Johann Gottlieb Goldberg. Performers: 🎻 Hernán Muñoz, violin 🎻 Natalia Cantillano, viola 🎻 Paulina Mühle-Wiehoff, cello Can a work written almost 300 years ago still move us today?
