Updating the #ColecciónMNBA and completing the Museum's historical tour were very important aspirations for the artist Luis Vargas Rosas during his tenure as director of the institution. However, the available resources and administrative difficulties did not always allow this project to be realized. Thus, donations and legacies from collectors, as well as international collaboration networks, played a fundamental role. Examples of this are the legacy of Santiago Ossa Armstrong, incorporated in 1947; the engravings and drawings of the Dresdner Sezession group, donated by Max Roesberg and Margarethe Charlotte Jakob in 1949; and the fifteen paintings by Prince Wittgenstein handed over by the Braden Copper Company between 1960 and 1962. These and other contributions allowed for the expansion of the collection and enriched its artistic, historical, and geographical diversity, complementing the initiatives promoted by the management.
