Foo Fighters opened the doors of their Studio 606 in Los Angeles to star in the final chapter of Extended Play, a Vevo series that combines intimate conversations with live performances and a look at the creative process of different artists. On this occasion, the band decided to do it around a collaborative dinner where each member contributed something to the menu. Dave Grohl arrived with ingredients to prepare BLTs; Rami Jaffee brought his own “Los Angeles Kugel”; Nate Mendel, salmon; Chris Shiflett, green beans; Ilan Rubin, freshly baked sourdough bread; and Pat Smear closed the meal with ice cream sandwiches. The meeting serves as a starting point to talk about the different influences that ended up shaping the sound of Foo Fighters and, especially, their new album ‘Your Favorite Toy’. The work brings together elements ranging from the hardcore roots of some of its members to the melodies that marked them during different stages of their lives. Grohl explained that there is a particularly natural feeling when performing the new material: “I like the new songs because they feel comfortable to play”.
