De Sarmiento Galería presents «La Piel del Otro», a solo exhibition by artist Matías San Martín Jacob (@matiassanmartinjacob). «La Piel del Otro» starts from the intrinsic relationship between identity and territory, understanding the bodily experience of queer people as an intimate, political space in constant transformation. The proposal approaches the human figure from its proximity, turning the surface of the skin into a place of observation where different layers of identity converge: flesh tones, tattoos, piercings, leather, and, at times, clothing. Matías San Martín Jacob's paintings are constructed from models belonging to LGBTQIA+ dissidences, whose bodies appear partially exposed and fragmented. In them, the gaze is situated at a midpoint between intimacy, desire, and eroticism. From a political dimension, the series recovers part of the contemporary memory of the queer underground scene, especially those self-representation practices that, since the nineties, began to question traditional models of representation.
