Why do some countries manage to prosper while others remain left behind? There is no single answer. Geography, institutions, education, culture, and major historical processes have given rise to different explanations regarding the origin of the wealth and poverty of nations. Manuel Llorca, academic director of the course "Wealth and Poverty of Nations: Lessons for Chile," and former Minister of Finance and UAI senior fellow Ignacio Briones, address some of these questions and their relevance for understanding our country's economic trajectory. The course covers fundamental debates in economic history, from the Industrial Revolution and the early development of Great Britain to the role of institutions and the so-called "middle-income trap." WE START ON Tuesday, October 6! ➡️ More information and registration at tinyurl.com/riquezaypobreza or at uai.cl/postgrados/cursos On the flyer: Course Wealth and Poverty of Nations: Lessons for Chile
